I think most of us in the forum are here because we're enjoying our new cars - yet the masses haven't yet joined us and very few TV commercials have aired for the Insight. So... I turned to Honda's official page on YouTube and started exploring!

1 - Several new videos were posted in late-December, which makes me think that Honda is on the verge of going broader in their advertising for the Insight (especially being a finalist for the 2019 North American Car of the Year Award, with award ceremony coming in just 5 days!).

2 - The Insight launched in the US first, and is JUST NOW on the verge of launch in Japan. There were a few interesting videos and news of the Japanese model, including features that are better than the US model!

Summary of videos is posted below, with dates and links:

Japanese Commercials / News
- This is a commercial for the upcoming launch of the Insight in Japan. I turned on CC and English translation to watch -
- This one isn’t a TV commercial, and is kind of long so I watched at 2X speed. BUT it was worth watching to see that the Japanese version of the Insight will have goodies missing from the US models: sunglasses holder [2:18], different center cupholder configuration [3:02], and rear console-mounted air vents [5:15] -
- There’s also this article that teases the upcoming launch of the Insight in Japan. The top trim is called “EX Black” and there’s a video/commercial posted mid-page. The Japanese EX model gets more features than the US model, coming with the blind spot warning system we all want (!!), leather seats, and auto-dimming rear view mirror. The EX Black gets suede seats and trim. - https://www.carlist.my/news/all-new-honda-insight-teased-japan-debut-soon/53490/

The recently uploaded ones I don't think are new. I saw them back when I purchased. I believe what they did is update the tagline under the logo at the end of the video. It didn't call out the 55 MPG city rating before.

The Japanese version was discussed on the other Insight forum too. The grille has chrome accents on the front (unless you get the top-line version), and a spoiler is standard on EX and the model above it. Would have loved the rear-facing vents. Wondering if their leather seats are really different from the North American version.

Thanks - I'll check out the other Insight forum as well! I hadn't seen any information posted here yet and thought it was new news. (It was new to me at least!) :surprise: My jaw dropped when I saw that several of the complaints people made in the US model are now addressed in the Japanese model.

Honda must have removed/replaced the older videos on YouTube, because these were the only "commercial-oriented ones" left in their feed.

The Japanese model looks impressive. Honda made the Insight even more elegant. I hope they offer some of the modifications as accessories down the road here in the US.
