Insight makes top 5 of ACEEE 2020 Greenest Vehicle List

The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy yesterday released its 2020 Greenest List. The cars are scored based on environmental impacts beyond tailpipe emissions. The Toyota Prius Prime topped the list. Our Honda Insight came in fifth. Tesla models and many other "pure" EVs are notably absent, ostensibly due to the environmental impacts associated with the manufacture of these vehicles' large batteries.

Here's a link to the list and context:

Interesting that the Insight (#5) also ranked higher than the Clarity (#11)...

Scoring seems to account for the net environmental impact of plug-in hybrids, for fuel used to generate electricity. EVs are ding'd for long term sustainability due to slow growth and limited sourcing/distribution of renewable energy options. And hybrids score 'higher' due to the distribution/availability of gasoline.

Also a fun fact - the article mentions that EVs 'ruled the list' previously, but 3/4 of the winners for 2020 are hybrids.
