I'm not sure you'll find any aftermarket blind spot monitors for the Gen3 Insight. The Insight is built on the current Gen10 Civic platform, which hasn't offered this as an accessory. The Clarity doesn't offer it, and the current Accord EX is the lowest level sedan trim that has it. I did see aftermarket sensors on eBay for the 2015 Civic and this video for aftermarket sensors on a 2016 Accord - maybe one of those would work? Or perhaps looking for OEM or aftermarket BSI sensors for the Accord and applying them to the Insight? But from what I've read/seen so far, I think you'd be among the first to try any of these on the Gen3 Insight...
2019 Insight side view mirrors are same as 2019 Civic side view mirror. So I think you can install Civic BSM to Insight.

Hmm. Might be an interesting project to look into.

To clarify, are you referring to reapplying aftermarket Civic Blind Spot Monitors to the Insight? I don't think the Civic has any OEM Blind Spot Monitoring systems, and I only saw it on Accord at EX trims and higher. The OEM Blind Spot Monitors are sensors built into the side rear panels of the car.

Yes, aftermarket kits. I can only find aftermarket BSM for 2019 Civic. So I went to Honda dealer this afternoon and took pictures of side view mirrors. I cannot tell difference between two vehicles. There is one thing I need to verify -- inside of side view mirror. Last year I bought aftermarket BSM for Toyota RAV4. But inside of side view mirrors are different between China version and US version.

Today I also took picture of Accord side view mirror. It can't use for Insight.
I wish the Insight had Blind Spot Monitoring

I have a 2018 Accord that has BSM. My new 2019 Insight only has right side lane watch. Lane watch is a big disappointment after getting used to blind spot monitoring. I wish there was a way to upgrade to the BSM.

Agreed. I prefer BSM as well. I think I heard somewhere that they might be dumping lane watch again. I think we might see BSM on the 2020 insight. The Japanese version has it.
Aftermarket Blind Spot Monitoring

Guy who worked on my stereo says he can install bsm on my insight if I want. It's aftermarket and will hide behind the rear bumper sides. The lights would be installed somewhere in the cabin. Price.. a cool $900 installed.

Sadly, Honda's MSRP increase from 19/20 Insight (with LaneWatch) to 2021 Insight (with Blind Spot Monitoring) is 'only' +$650 (excluding $60 increase in destination fee).

Will be interesting to re-check pricing for aftermarket install, once 2021 OEM parts become available... maybe it would bring the price down from $900 installed? But maybe not, since Honda charges a fortune for OEM parts?

Well at least you can get the parts for 30% off online. I'm wondering if I could interface the new mirrors with the system Adam suggested so I can have lights on the mirrors with an aftermarket system. Of course, I have crimson Pearl and would now have to repaint some of the mirror since they dumped my color 😫
I have been tinkering with an idea if I can get the money together. I have wanted to get a good bsm system installed in my insight and Adam has one that works wonderfully. The only problem is the BSM lights have to be on the inside of the car and aren't reliable if fitted outside the vehicle. Now, the Japanese Insight had BSM available as of 2019 and as far as I can tell the mirrors themselves are the same dimension.

My idea: Replace my current honda mirror glass with the glass from a 2021. I'm willing to bet it's the same dimensions and connections minus a single connector or lead to the light built into the glass for the BSM alert. Install the aftermarket BSM in the car and run the wires that light the aftermarket's warning lights to the connector in the housing of the Insight mirror and have the Honda BSM lights pop on whenever an alert comes through. I think this might be viable as long as I can find out if the actual glass in the 2021 mirror is the same size and connection as the glass in the 2019. I'm betting it is minus the power to the BSM light.

Whatcha guys think? Sounds like an idea!

Problem is the BSM install is like $900 and I'm not flush with a lot of money right now.

Also we don't know if any additional software is require for BSM to function.

Maybe a 2021 owner like @franko1927 or @Fred can share what version of infotainment software is installed on their cars so we can compare version differences. (Home --> System Updates --> Settings --> Version Status)

My gut says it's the same version as the update we 2019/2020 owners received, as the early-April deployment timing for the software update roughly matches the late-March launch of the 2021 model. At a minimum, the screen display looks similar and only minimal changes are listed in the 2021 owners manual.

Software is irrelevant in this case. It's an aftermarket BSM system that is placed behind the left and right sides of the rear bumper. It comes with it's own logic box, lights, sensors and a buzzer. The reason I would like to change the glass in the mirrors is so I can run the wire that would go to the aftermarket's warning lights to the lights built into the glass of the mirrors. Since the aftermarket system's lights can't be placed outside this would make it feel more like a built in system and the lights would be more easily seen on the mirrors rather than be drilled inside the car somewhere. I would also retain the lane watch at the same time.

I figure the only reason to worry about software is if I want interaction with the head unit or the dash instruments or dash buzzers. Since Looking at the mirrors would show the lights, and the unit comes with it's own buzzer, I see no need to worry about software unless I want to add the Honda genuine unit.
