New Insight owner from Southern Illinois. Modern Steel/Mocha Touring edition.

Just picked it up Saturday, Loving the experience so far.

Interesting anecdote, I followed a 2nd gen Insight on the interstate drive home, I barely see them around so that really stood out.

I’m planning several things, LED interior lights, window tint, better subwoofer (trying to pull off a passive upgrade, don’t know how I feel installing an amp in a hybrid.)

I want to thank the members of this forum, I have been stalking the forums for a couple months before making up my mind to buy.

Welcome to the forum and the Insight family! On my 2nd day driving my Insight, I had a 2nd gen Insight next to me at a traffic light, and a Prius that was behind the 2nd gen Insight. I don't think the 2nd gen Insight owner knew that I was driving a 3rd gen Insight because he didn't react when I looked at him. :plain:

He probably thought you were driving a Lexus !!
Congrats on the Insight alex and welcome to the forum. You really do get a sense of just how far this model has come when you get a firsthand look at the previous generations. There shouldn't be any issues with installing an amp in any hybrid car that has a 12v battery.
Speaking about Lexus, I heard they have plans to launch a hybrid version of the new Lexus UX.
I have no idea what price will be like but if they do launch it, a Corolla hatch with the same powertrain would be appreciated :D

The UX250h launched alongside the regular model and is already available. The electric assistance makes it the more powerful version as well. Not a big fan of Lexus new spindle grills.
Congrats, and welcome!

You are going to love it! I'm sure you already do. Don't forget to have some "Sport Mode" fun with it every once in a while. She can, and will "deliver". Sport Mode with maximum regeneration set is a tight and powerful experience. Even then you will still get above average MPG.

I too would appreciate a better speaker system. Too many spectrum holes in the sound. Better lows would be nice, but the mids and highs lack balance and definition, as well. But what can you improve about the factory speakers? That is the main issue I hear. I live with it. Besides, Sirius satellite radio is so "compressed" with low bit rate that nothing will make that "digital mess" any better. Back in the early days of XM Radio, it was CD quality. I loved it! Now they divided the downlink bandwidth into so many channels that fidelity is garbage. Though, I will say my iPhone sounds pretty good. And HD radio "can" sound good if the station doesn't divide their bandwidth into too many sub-channels. I still get a kick out of AM HD radio. Not too many around, but it makes AM sound like FM. :D

Enjoy!

I agree on the xm radio. I’ve never been satisfied with the compressed/mottled sound quality and never resubscribe after the free trial. And agree with unexpected surprise on iPhone quality as well. I’ve ripped most of my old cds to mp via iTunes at lower compression setting then default and I’m really pleased with the audio clarity of those tracks.
