Greetings from Vancouver, Canada.

I've ordered my Insight Touring but I am still playing the waiting game.

I was debating if I want grey, silver or the cosmic blue. Sadly, grey and silver are not available to Canadians. I then went for cosmic blue but the dealerships here only have the car in black or red. Any other Canadian Insight owners in this forum? How long did you need to wait for your vehicle after your order?

I was looking at the Canadian Honda site and noticed how much more limited the color selection is. But I also noticed that you can get what I REALLY wanted, which was red exterior and black interior. Here in the US the red comes with ivory interior. Bummer. I hope you don't have to wait too long.

I just bought my insight yesterday. Crimson pearl touring with black leather(Canadian model). I originally thought I would have to take the ivory interior which I did not want, but was pleasantly surprised to find out that in Canada it only comes in black. I wonder why it is ivory for the U.S. and black for Canada? Why not offer both. BTW, did not have to wait. The dealers here all received one insight initially except for the dealer I bought from who got one base model and the touring that I bought. He was the only dealer who received one in crimson pearl. His base model also sold so he is now waiting for new stock. Another funny thing here. We do not have a choice of 3 models, just baseline and touring.

That's interesting. I am very jealous that you can get the ivory interior. lol

I was initially told 3 month wait......Went in the next day with a firm offer and they told me I could have the demo I drove with 20 kms on it. Been driving it around for one week now. The dealership had one touring model left in black, mine was pearl white exterior with black interior.

So it's been 3 months and 1 week since I made a deposit for a Cosmic blue Insight Touring. The dealer gave me a call yesterday, telling me there's still no ETA on any cosmic blue Insight production. The dealership is slowly getting the deliveries but they are all in white or black. There isn't a single blue one delivered.

They have a white one arriving at the dealership today and they asked me if I am interested in taking it. The white paint needs $300 extra in Canada and they said they will deduct it from the deal.

I am a little unsure about keeping a white car. I will go to the dealership tomorrow morning and check it out. I never experienced having to wait for production of a Honda vehicle, and I really didn't expect to have to wait for over 3 months.

White costs extra?? I have a white EX. Dirt will show on anything. I chose white mainly to keep it a tad cooler in the summer. If you go with white, have the dealer throw in splash guards. It really does help keep the bottom half cleaner. Since you're making a compromise by going with white, it's the least they can do to make the decision easier. That said, a trunk tray and set of high-wall all-season mats will make it less painful as well. Play up the fact you're not happy, but will go with white! #getallthefreebiesyoucan

How does this dealer ethically accept a deposit and then hold it for three months without delivering anything? You should hold their feet to the fire.

In New York (and maybe across the U.S.), if a deposit is not consummated with a car delivery in 30 days, the buyer has the right to void the contract. Not sure about Canada.

I have to say I wasn’t convinced on having white, but my wife knew that’s what she wanted before we ever looked at one. Now that we’ve had it a while I’m very pleased with the color. No extra charge for white in the US, but it is a three layer paint. A body shop guy told me they cost more to repaint, so I can understand the upcharge. Also, just an observation, I don’t have the mudguards and it hasn’t been a problem so far. If it was it’s not a difficult DIY job to add them later.

It should be interesting to see how many Canadians purchase the Insight given that (my understanding of) the cost of Canadian gas is normally higher than the U.S. That's when the two currencies are near parity.
Now that one US Dollar is equivalent to 1.31 Canadian dollars, it sounds like - comparatively speaking - gas is currently pretty expensive in Canada?

So we checked out the white one and we liked it. We already had the protection package and the door visors in the original deal for the cosmic blue, so the dealer is adding the same accessories minus the $300 white paint extra cost.

My wife and I took a walk in the used car lot while we waited for the salesman to do some paper work. This is our first white car so I checked out the other white Honda's there. I noticed that most of the white cars have severe scratches on the door handle cups. I guess it's common to have nail and ring scratches there when people open the doors but it shows A LOT more on white. I hardly see any on the darker color cars.

Apart from asking the wife to wear gloves, is there any paint protection product that will prevent scratches there?
