Safety rating was one of my criteria for purchase. I had been eyeing the Insight, but waited until the official results were published before seriously shopping for one. I wanted to ensure I was buying the safest technology available because I plan to keep this car a while. I believe the IIHS results came out first (late Aug 2018?), followed by the NHTSA results a month later.

Safety rating was one of my top criteria as well. I came from a 2006 Subaru Legacy, that had 5 star crash tests on the drivers side, and 4 star on the passenger side. Wasn't willing to settle for less than 4 stars for my passengers on my new car purchase to replace my Subaru.

Also you don't need to buy the highest trim to get the best headlights or safety features with the Insight. The Insight has the Safety Pick + rating for all 3 trims which Honda should be praised for. Most of the cars on that list only applies to certain option packages or the highest trim.
