Anyone noticed anything off about the regular headlights? I get flashed all the time by other people...and I generally don’t leave my lights on auto, so they’re definitely not on the brights setting. I’m guessing it’s just new LED lights...but boy do I upset truck drivers and random people in my neighborhood...

I personally haven't had any other cars flash me due to my headlights and I have them on auto with auto highbeam. I couldn't go back to driving my previous cars after driving with the Insight's headlights. It feels like driving with no headlights at night even though they're on.

I've been flashed a couple times but I've also been told by a friend that the lights are well-aimed as they didn't blind him when he was driving in front of me. I had a hilarious situation where I had the lights on auto and they were on high beams and this poor driver with one working extremely dim headlight was blinded while we passed each other. There was also a case where a cop may have flashed his headlights...and then turned all his lights off at 3am and sped into a parking lot where a lot of crime tends to happen. That was interesting.

I've been flashed a few times but I think people assume you have your brights on just because the headlamps are super bright. Aiming seems fine to me and yes, these are by far the best lamps I've had in a car. One if the first things I said on my you tube review I did on the car.

The fog lights on the Touring model are just fantastic, too! I love how they automatically turn off as the high beams switch on.

The dealer made it a point to show off the headlights on my first test drive.

The lights themselves are gorgeous to look at up close. I often pause to admire them when I get out of my car at night, before they automatically switch off. The LEDs give designers more opportunities to make detailed, sharply defined patterns than big incandescents and other lamps.

Yes, I love everything about the headlight design on this car. From the turn signal lights right above the chrome wing to the daytime running lights. I especially like driving around sunset with the daytime running lights still on.

I really dislike cars with LED lights. They are TOO BRIGHT, blinding me when they pass me going the other way or behind me in my rear view mirror. The safety institutes and CR should be downgrading them as a road safety hazard!

Your experience with people flashing you confirms mine on the receiving end!

Looking forward to hearing your perspective once you receive your new Insight and are on the driving end. The headlights illuminate the road really well, and I think you'll be impressed enough to endure the 'flash' from other drivers who think they're too bright. :smile_big:

I would agree with you except I have been on the opposite end of these lights on many occasions and their aim is not a problem. The car is low to the ground so the problematic flashes say a pickup gets even though his lows are on just because he's tall is not a factor so I'm going to have to go with the nosey I need to lecture the person coming at me route. The lights are VERY bright on the car but don't actually shine in my eyes, but since I'm a busy body and they look like theyre on bright setting I'm going to flash you so you don't bother other people. I think that scenario is likely as well. I know they don't shine into my eyes when driving another car towards the Insight.

“The sight of them always pulls my attention”

That’s the issue for me. Even in the daytime, they are distracting. They are simply too bright.

No doubt, at night, having LED light on one's own car lights up the world, but at what cost to others?!

I have the same problem with LED flashlights around the y are excessively bright, which can be good for lighting up dark places, but ridiculously bad if you happen to look at the light or someone else does!

Sadly not the best Headlights I have owned

My previous ride was a 2014 Corolla. Its stock LED headlights are superior to the Insights. Brighter and better spread. The Insight has a defined dark spot just to the left of center that the Corolla doesn't have. Don't even get me started on the "High beam" the Insight has. I am surprised they can legally call what this car has a "High beam". I am disappointed in the headlights on the Insight compared to a 5 year old Corolla. I don't have the fog lights on my Insight. Maybe with the addition of the fog lights maybe I would like the light situation on the Insight better. I would love to try the fog lights out but they are way way way too expensive.

Interesting to hear the comparison from actual driving difference of Honda to Toyota. Technically, the IIHS rating for Corolla headlights is "A" (acceptable) while the Insight is rated "G" (good - highest score).

My comparison frame of reference is from prior Hondas to the current Insight. Historically, the Accord has only scored "A" at best and the Civic is rated "P" (poor)... and I feel/see the headlight quality difference in the Insight.

I think the headlights are great. The angle of the low beam lights is low...maybe too low compared to many I have used. I thought about adjusting mine, as I understand that is possible, but will leave well enough alone. Hills effect aim and sometimes shining in other drivers eyes, but the same happens to me at times. No big deal. The factory fog lights I had installed on my EX are fantastic. They fill in the side areas very well. Almost like a perfect extension that was engineered to fit just right. I only wish they stayed on during high beam use. And the auto-dimming feature works very well.

And I have to say I marvel at both the headlight and taillight design. Prowling eyes, but not "evil" eyes like some projector lamp designs I have seen. Those look like something out of "Terminator". No, these lights are the best looking lights I have seen on the road. I'm definitely seeing more and more LED light designs on the roads. Every company is trying to make their own original designs...especially tail light designs. Some I think are ugly (new Prius and Volvo designs), and some are pretty cool. The new Insight is awesome!, but I guess I'm biased. :smile_big:

The Insight does have nice looking headlight design(no angry eyes or big insect eyes). Just hope that they're reliable and don't need replacement.
