ALG, a subsidiary of TrueCar, announced Honda as having the projected "Highest Residual Values of All Mainstream Auto Brands" for 2020. Land Rover won the top spot for Luxury Brands. The rating is based on brands/models projected to retain the strongest value after 3 years of ownership.

Half of Honda's line-up (Fit, Accord, Odyssey, Pilot, Passport) won 'highest residual value' for their individual segments. The other half (Civic, Insight, Clarity, HR-V, CR-V, Ridgeline) did not make the list. Hopefully this doesn't foreshadow negative value news for the Insight, based on the Civic platform.

commuter type cars dont typically hold value well so i dont think it says anything negative about Insight.

someone looking at residual value after three years is only looking to minimize losses so that they can depreciate another new car for the used market. that may be exactly what they want to do, no big deal, but its not really thrifty like these types of articles typically imply.
