Honda inadvertently exposed records of 26k owners (out of 976 million records in the database) after a system misconfiguration dating back to 10/21/19. - https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/honda-exposes-26-000-records-of-north-american-customers/

The exposed information included personally identifiable information (PII) including name, email, phone, address, VIN, contract, and service information. Honda claims that financial information and credentials were not exposed; however the information that was released in the breach could be used for targeted phishing attacks.

The breach was discovered by an external cyberthreat security researcher on 12/11/19. - https://securitydiscovery.com/honda-exposes-vehicle-owner-records-on-the-web/

Honda customer information was previously breached in 2018 (India) and an external hack in 2010 exposed email, name and VIN information for 2.2 million Honda and 2.7 million Acura owners.
