I decided to do some spring cleaning on my Insight today so I applied a new coating of Meguiar's hybrid ceramic wax. I applied it more thoroughly this time instead of rushing thanks to the warmer spring weather. The car wash I went to wasn't busy so I could take my time in the self-wash bay which was nice.

The Husky floor mats also cleaned up nicely with the high pressure washer mixed with soap. They look like new again after having so much salt and road grime caked on it. The carpet underneath the Husky looks just as new as the day I got it so the Husky definitely protected the floor of my Insight.

While towel drying my Insight, I saw a nice touch of blue chrome right underneath the front chrome wing grille, which I never noticed was part of the Insight exterior design :surprise:. One hour after drying my car it rained  but I was able to take some nice pictures of the water beads from the Meguiar's hybrid ceramic wax. :smile_big:

For some reason, both Honda and Toyota sales people made a point of mentioning to me "blue" accents that distinguish their hybrid lines from traditional lines. (...as if blue color accent would tip my hand to buy a hybrid from them?) Electrified Hondas have the front grille "blue stripe" and blue key fob, as you mentioned. Electrified Toyotas get a blue accent circling their front and rear logos. Honda's execution is much more tasteful than Toyota, per usual. "Blue is the new green" as one sales person said...

Yeah, a the car dealership I never noticed the blue chrome. It was pretty cool to discover that on my first wash.

Never would have known that. I like the blue color on the fob but I barely notice it on the front grille. I do notice it on the Hybrid logo at the rear of the car. Blue is much more to my liking than green, and the Insight also seems so understated alongside most toys of the green-tech elite--it doesn't qualify for the EV financial incentives or commuter lane sticker where I live, and that's cool with me.

I like the fact it just blends in and that you have to appreciate the design of the car while looking it at a certain angle to see it. Owned the car for 4 months and only noticed it when detailing the car a few days ago. I agree that the car looking normal is a benefit and doesn't need any special incentive just like any other normal car. Boston's Logan Airport does offer special parking for hybrid cars so now I don't have to walk far from the terminal entrance.

It took me two years to notice that there's a bit of blue chrome under the nose of the Insight. Is it too subtle? At first I thought it was a body color matched piece (since I have a cosmic blue), but in looking online at white Insights, it doesn't seem to be the case. It's another indication that other than to fans and three badges, the car isn't intended to scream hybrid.
