Its tough for Honda to reestablish the insight after so many years being in a slump where Toyota was able to grab a stronger share of the customers.

Toyota reported 6008 Prius sales, and InsideEVs.com says that 2312 were Prius Prime. Take those out of the total since those are more comparable to Clarity than to Insight. If the remaining Priuses were non-plug-in hybrids, that's 3696 Priuses against 1833 Insights. So 1 Insight for every 2 Priuses. Not winning, but can you really expect to outright win with a first-year model?

Honda also wrote in their press release, "Insight, Accord Hybrid and Clarity again combined for over 5,000 sales in November, while Insight was honored as Green Car Journal's Green Car of the Year." So that could mean that they're happy with the results and will continue to develop the model. Awards can't hurt...

True, awards can't hurt but the 2018 Accord won some big ones and hefty sales did not follow. Some say Honda did not promote the Accord as much as they might have, thinking all the accolades would drive it out of showrooms. Just sayin', I know there are numerous factors effecting sedan...and hybrids sales too. Most all the critics continue to love the Accord. Gas here is down to near $2/gal too.
