Interesting review of the 2021 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid, with notable comparisons to the Toyota Corolla Hybrid and Honda Insight throughout... and names the Elantra Hybrid the "Editor's Choice" winner among compact hybrid sedans.

'Extra' amenities the Elantra Hybrid includes beyond the Corolla Hybrid and Insight are hands-free trunk release and built-in Qi charging.

The review advises the Elantra Hybrid Limited is less expensive than the 2020 Insight Touring "but easily surpasses it in terms of performance."

And compared to the 2020 Corolla Hybrid, the Elantra Hybrid is "far and away a better car in terms of looks, performance, features, and interior comfort."

The only big thing I'd love to swap between the Insight and the Elantra is the dual clutch tranny. That engine groan from the eCTV is too much some days

I think Hyundai went a little too crazy with the design.

That’s really hard to believe (and embarrassing if correct) since most of the other Hyundai hybrids are in the 50s.

Oops... looks like the article was wrong. I quoted the fuel economy numbers from their article (31 city / 41 highway / 35 combined) but I think they posted the data for the conventional Elantra rather than hybrid Elantra.

Looking at it on Hyundai's site, the hybrid gets 49 city / 52 highway / 50 combined. (That's more like a hybrid!) I've updated the table above to reflect this. Thanks!

I rented a late model standard Elantra last year and it was a POS. I know this is a total redesign and you can’t really judge different generation cars , like the gen 2 Insight being a POS as well.
