Hi there, this is also my first post. I am heavily interested in the 2019 insight and wanted to get input from the 6ft+ (183cm) folks. I currently drive a honda CR-V and I always thought I would forever stay with SUVs. I am looking for a new car so my wife can take the CR-V (she likes bigger cars) and wanted to go with a more efficient daily driver.

Any tall people have any complaints with the size of the Insight? And when you sit in the driver seat, is the passenger directly behind going to be comfortable? I can go test drive it myself but I was wondering if there's anything that could only be noticed after owning the car for some time and driving with high occupation.

Thank you in advance!

I’m 6’3. There’s plenty of room and I don’t even have the driver seat pushed all the way back. Also, the seat height can be adjusted up and down to give you the desired headspace. With the driver seat adjusted midway, there are several inches of space between my knees and the back of the driver seat when I sit in the back.

It really depends on the way you sit when you drive. I am 6ft and I sit fine with at least 2-3 clicks left in the track. I have an EX model so its a manual seat. I also sit low and slouchy in the seat which leaves my knee leaning on the center console. I sometimes have to adjust and move to sit up a little straighter when the hard plastic on the center console annoys me on longer drives.
When I sit up straighter it changes where my feet and knee are so I have plenty of room that way.

People behind me usually have to be smaller than 6ft without me moving up the seat. I have been in the car with all bigger guys from my job and they have been comfortable but I did have to move my seat up 1 click.

The rear seat is at a pretty good angle that makes it feel like there's a lot of room.

Thanks for your response! I'm 6'1" so it's reassuring that someone taller than me have no complaints. Do you have touring? I notice the touring you get a bit more headspace due to the sunroof, was wondering if even that extra space would be nice, though i don't expect it to be a huge problem in the other trims. I'm just worried for example, if i hit a road bump and fly off my seat an inch or two.

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's funny because I also move up a click when someone sits behind me on my 2010 CR-V which is probably unnecessary. I just naturally do it because I assume i'm usually pretty far back and that they would appreciate the extra space.

I'm 6' 2” and found the Insight comfortable, with more than sufficient headroom, and a Honda Accord like feel. I did move the seat all the way back and tilted it back a bit —I have long arms.

There is no up and down control on the seat, at least not that I found on a lower trim. And, the sunroof or moonroof of the Touring trim does reduce headroom! So, that rules out the Touring model; plus, it has lower mpg, and uses leather.

I'm going to check it all out again, though...

Paraphrasing the folks on This Old House,

I think it’s the other way around. The Touring has less headroom because they fit the sunroof track into the same overall height.
Gotcha. I guess to me it looked like there's more headroom as there's more clearance underneath the glass.

I recently test drove the EX trim and it does control up and down. One of the manual lever works like a pump and you either pump it or pull it to go up and down.

Wont, good to know! Thanks for the input! While I won't need it at 6' 2”, others might!

Does the passenger side have anything similiar? If so, it could fix the passenger being lower issue!
Passenger seat does not have the option to go higher. just able to slide forward/backward and adjust the angle of the seat-back

That's too bad! How much of a height difference is there when both driver and passenger seats are in their lowest position?

Of course, wouldn't the effect or passenger displeasure depend upon the respective heights or body lengths of driver and passenger?

Maybe this is one of those weird things that one quickly adjusts to or that bother few people!
