Yesterday I put a refundable deposit down on a Insight EX Modern Silver Metallic with a Mocha interior, sounds like it's here late this month or very early October. Excited to get in this car! I've done a lot of research but there are a few lingering questions. Luckily I have time to digest everything and make the best decisions.
Anyone have a mocha interior? I can't seem to find any pictures of it online. Honda does a great job showing various exterior colors but couldn't find anything that showed interior colors. I'm a bit apprehensive because brown generally isn't my favorite color, but it could look pretty slick depending on what shade we're talking. I'm sure I could swing by the dealer to look at a mocha Civic or Accord to get a feel for the color.
With it being such a new model I'm going to get the Honda Care for 8 years / 100k miles. I was quoted $900 ($100 deductible) online. I haven't done the paperwork at the dealership yet that'll happen when the vehicle arrives so I imagine they'll try to upsell that for quite a bit over $900. There's no sales tax online, so even if I talk my dealership down to $900 I'll save $60 in taxes buying the warranty online. I love how Honda allows dealerships to sell the warranty without selling the car, great for the consumer since they can compete!
They're quoting me on various maintenance packages too, but I'm having trouble finding the value in them. Doing the math, if I paid for maintenance out of pocket it'd come out nearly half of the maintenance package. Am I missing something on that? Has anyone had experience with their maintenance packages. I'm also having trouble calculating the cost savings because the maintenance plan on the Insight isn't like any car i owned. Instead of set intervals, maintenance seems to be "whenever the car says you need it".
Finally they were trying to add wheel locks for $99, but I see them online all over the place for about $30 so told them no. I actually wouldn't mind wheel locks though. Anyone have a link to locks that work with the Insight EX?
