Noticed a very minor (but still annoying) rattle from the vents when the A/C or Vent is blowing on any setting past 2 (two lines). As soon as you hit the third setting, the rattle begins. It does not increase with more fan speed though.

Anyone else having similar issues?

Yes, I've noticed a crackling sound from mine. It's only really noticeable when the radio is off.

Mine was driving me nuts sitting in traffic (center console - drivers side)...so I took it in and they are replacing it! Take yours in...it's covered under warranty. At first they said they couldn't hear anything, but eventually caved. It's a really annoying rattle.

Thanks for the info. My rattle is in the same exact vent. I may take it in over the holidays to fix this.

Thanks! Me too! Center vent drivers side. I notice it more when the fan is on medium to high speed. I also have a rattle just above the glove compartment right behind the vinyl padding, It only rattles when the interior is cold. once the cabin warms up it tends to go away. I hate to take it in, I might get it back with a different rattle.

I also had a rattle that seemed to be "fixed" by pressing on the vinyl padding just above glove compartment, and only when cold. 3 visits to dealer and I could not replicate it there. Finally it got more persistent and pressing on that spot no longer "fixed" it. And then the dealer tech discovered that the passenger side pillar that encloses the curtain air bag was the source of the noise. So it got fixed.

Now I am getting squeeks from the dashboard, the kind of thing you expect in a five year old Chevy that's parked in the sun all the time.

Just curious, but what are the last 5 digits of your VIN (serial production number)? Wondering if you own one from early in the production run.

I thought about these prior 'vent rattling' comments as it was warm this morning and I cranked up the fan speed and played around with the vent modes. I braced myself for the vent rattling reported at high fan speeds, but heard none in any combination of speeds/modes.

^Possible solution for you guys experiencing dash/vent rattle?
Helpful share! Will keep it in mind if the rattle starts to happen. For those who want to save 7 minutes of video watching (coz, umm... he repeats himself 2-3 times), the tip is to cycle thru all the vent "mode" settings quickly to reset the flapper that may be rattling. :)

It comes and it goes. I would have it taken care of immediately if you can. I have found it stops Everytime I go to the dealership so they are never able to diagnose and fix it. If you can have it diagnosed and fixed it would be a boon to the rest of us since knowing what the problem is is half the battle. As it is now I can't even give them an opinion on what it might be. To me it sounds a lot like a leaf rattling inside the dash at times.

Thank you for all your input guys. I will double check my tires pressure, I’ve been using Fuelly since I bought the car and mpg is pretty close to the one on the dashboard screen. It is kinda disappointing but I understand that the dealer won’t care too much. My car also has rattles coming from the center vents and from the door but the dealer can’t replicate (I even made a video of the sound but they NEED to verify it in person and OF COURSE my car doesn’t do it when they have the car), kind of miss my civic.
I had a similar rattle that the dealer could not duplicate. Swore it was in my center console area or driver's door. Turned out to be my garage door opener up on my sun visor. The noise definitely did not sound like it was coming from that area.

Ive discovered what is causing the leaf flapping noise but not sure how it can be fixed. Like everyone here has mentioned, it only happens on the driver side center vent. It’s the damn air flow direction slider! When it’s set in the middle area, some piece in the back of the vent is loose enough that it begins fluttering, sounding like someone is crinkling paper. If you turn the slider all the way to the left or right, the noise immediately stops! The problem with that is you either burn up from lack of cold air or freeze your hands. It’s not the slider piece itself as putting pressure on that does not stop the noise. It’s something way in the back that apparently is too loose in the center position. Turning the fan between mid and max speed will give you the best chance of making the sound constant if you want the dealer to try and fix it. Mine has only been making the noise for the past 5 months or so but it’s pretty annoying. I don’t see any way to fix it other then ripping out the center vents which may cause other annoying rattles. Or worse yet, it may just be a design flaw and the new piece will end up making the same noise after awhile. I’m at 27.5k and debating whether to mention it at my 30k appointment since I will be out of warranty before the end of the year.

I have the same issue. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the vent. And it came back!

Welcome to the forum. Did the vent replacement correct your issue at all, or did it continue even immediately after the replacement?

There's a suggestion above to cycle thru all vent mode/flow settings, that might also be worth testing/trying. The premise is that if the rattling relates to the diverter position, it helps reset the flapper if its rattling.
