Remote Start, included or subscription only?

Hello,

I am about to pick up the Touring model (12/28) and I havn't been able to get a straight answer on this.
My dealer said remote starting and lock/unlock in included as a standard feature with the Touring model (which I'm getting)

But some have said it's a subscription only with a free trial and this website points to that being true.

So which is it? Included with the car or yearly paid subscription?

I'd be pissed if I have to pay $9.16 + tax per month for this feature on a 30K car.

It's part of the car with the remote, but if you want to do it with the app from your cell phone it's only a trial version. You have to pay a yearly fee for many of the services. I think it's 89.99 to be able to start and lock and unlock the car with the app. I'm not impressed at all by this either since I think something like locking your car and remote starting should be included. Especially if you get the top trim. I recently leased a Ford fusion energi and it's app has all that for free. I'm unimpressed by this cheapness on Honda's part.

I have the EX and use it all the time. You can "start" the car up to 800 feet away with the remote. It usually doesn't start the engine, it either turns on the AC to cool the inside to 72 degrees in the summer or heat the inside to 72 degrees in the winter. From a distance, press the lock button on the remote. After you see the lights flash as usual, then press the button below that which has a curve symbol with an arrow. Note red arrow in screen shot below.

I think it's $110/year for remote starting, locking/unlocking, and locating your car from the app. Remote start from the key fob is free.

You're paying at least partly for the cellular service that is required to keep the service working. By way of comparison, an Apple Watch costs $10/month to add to your cellular account.

I totally agree that it feels cheap. But I'll still probably pay for it when my trial subscription ends. I have to park too far from my work building for the key fob to be within range. In the winter it is so nice not to have to scrape ice before leaving work, and I bet that during the hot summer it will be equally nice to cool the car off a little, particularly considering the leather seats in Touring.
Thanks all, that explains it. I pick up the car this Tuesday!!

a new car on New Year's Day? That'll be easy to remember. Congrats!

Using the Remote Engine Start - a Full Explanation

The Guide Manual is no help. The Owners Manual is very little help. But this video, if you haven't seen it, is quite helpful:
