One of my vents was broken at purchase and I’ve had a very frustrating experience with the dealership causing damage/not fixing things properly. After several visits, I thought the issue was finally resolved but I just realized that my vents were replaced with LX/EX parts instead of Touring parts and now the trim around the vents is mismatched (see left of steering vs. right which extends to passenger door).

I’m not eager to have the center area disassembled for a third time so I’m considering getting the left vent replaced with the black trim.
- which looks better to you: black or silver trim?
- would you request that the dealer restore your car to original appearance even if it meant disassembling things again?

Obviously, it’s time to find a new service department. I’ll have to check out my options to have someone else fix another dealer’s mistakes.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I prefer the black trim look but if I bought a touring... I would ask the dealer to restore the original equipment that they damaged even if it means disassembling again. If you're like me, it's just going to remind you, about this incident each time you drive the car.

Sorry you've had this trouble, very frustrating! I prefer the black trim because it looks less fussy and isn't distracting. But the Touring trim is all about chrome upgrade touches, so maybe the contrast is something you want.

Its worth having the dealer adjust once more while still under warranty, as the difference is noticeable (i.e. resale). The good news (?) is that you now have the option to pick which trim you'd prefer.

Strange, my touring doesn't have chrome accent on the vents.
I wondered if maybe the chrome trim differed with interior color or other factor...? But saw a pair of Touring Insights online at same dealer with chrome trim included with both black and ivory leather.

It does look like the chrome vent trim should be standard for Touring (attachments 1, 2). The lower level models have black vent trim (attachments 3, 4).

If your Touring came with black trim, maybe this explains how krys18's dealer may have ordered what they thought was a "Touring" vent part but received with black trim?

I just logged in to inform all of you that YES, rectal air does indeed reside in my skull. It's very subtle so I never noticed and as far as I can tell I've never suffered any reflective problems from the "chrome" plastic. Sheesh! Love the car my butt! 😄
