Waiting in the Wings - Canada

I have been reading this forum for the past few months to get a general idea how people are enjoying their Insights and some of the issues they are having. General consensus is that people are really enjoying them and happy they bought them. Last month up here in Toronto was the International Auto Show and I thought what a great place to go to compare vehicles. The Honda booth was very busy with lots of models and trim levels but in the back on one side were three somewhat lonely hybrids. People were looking primarily at the Clarity with a few at the Accord and even less at the Insight. I was hoping that someone would be there that I could talk to about the Insight but there wasn't anyone other than a guy wiping finger prints off the cars and some young student types handing out brochures. I got to sit in the car and have a look around it and was pretty impressed. Unfortunately the actual cars are few and far between on dealer lots. Doing a search of 500 km (300 miles ) around me I found 11 cars with only 2 within an hour of driving to a dealer for a test drive. As most people know up here in Canada we only get 4 colour choices. 1 interior colour choice and two trim levels. The closest dealer to me has a red Touring which I'm hoping to go look at within a week or so. ( was hoping for better weather as it is really cold with lots of snow ). I was wondering if anyone up in Canada has ordered one and if so what the wait time is approximately. I was also wondering if you ordered any options would they be factory installed or dealer installed ( example illuminated door sill trim) Thanks

I think you've already bought your 2019 Insight Touring, but came across this while reviewing introductory posts. Wanted to close the loop on some of the open questions you posted :):

Re: Canada ordering wait time
Seems to average 2-3 months, per the following thread. Maybe it will get shorter as production increases - https://www.gen3insight.com/forum/1...urchasing-ordering/266-insight-wait-time.html

Re: Adding accessories at factory vs dealer
Any additional accessories you select within the sales contract would be done by the dealer (rather than factory). The car delivers from the factory in a 'standard' way, which keeps costs low. Any accessories selected as part of your purchase price include dealer installation fee. There's also option to buy OEM accessories after purchase (separate from sales contract) and install them elsewhere or by yourself, at a lower total cost.
Yes I bought my Insight back on March 20 and really enjoy driving it and finding all the different things it has. Coming from a 2007 Honda Fit it was a large learning curve and there are still a bunch of things I haven’t used. It has only been on the highway once for about 10 minutes and all the rest has been driving around town. After 5 months I have just under 1800 km ( 1100 miles) and have only put gas in it 3 times and there is still a half a tank.
