When was your Insight manufactured?

I think it would be interesting, to compare the manufacture dates of our Honda Insights, and the issues that we experience with them.

Mine(Insight EX) was manufactured 9/2018, and it was after the flood that happened in Mexico. No issues with the car besides a one time false brake alert with the Honda sensing tech.

Interesting you said that because I got the same fault from the app about my brakes too. It went away on the next startup and the Honda techs said there were no errors in the computer. Strange.
I've had the "false brake" alert several times on the highway when driving underneath the signs over the road. As well, lane departure warns when I drive by a guardrail that's close to the road over a narrow bridge. I'd hope that the software gets more refined over time as we get updates.

Simcoe was built in July of 2018.

Mini sidebar to the main topic - but I thought detection limits of the front sensor camera (moreso than the radar sensor) is limited by the physical quality of the camera itself. I understood this to be the reason "shadows" (including bridge shadows?) were named in the manual as known risk areas for the collision mitigation braking system (CMBS) and adaptive cruise control (ACC). Can software updates overcome camera quality issues?

Yeah, I was driving on the left most lane where the guardrails are and I think as the road curved the shadow from the guardrail triggered the CMBS.
My Touring was manufactured in July, 2018, and hasn't had any problems with the CMBS. The only real issue has been CarPlay disconnecting which I've mentioned earlier.
Touring. Manufactured 10/2018.

Automatic windshield wiper goes crazy (None stop wiping even when the rain stops) after a few wipes.
Rattling in the passenger side A pillar. The noise goes away when I put some layers of papers in between the A pillar and the dashboard.
Rattling in the driver side seat belt harness on the B pillar. Can't figure out how to get rid of this noise. I can put my ear right on it so I'm 100% sure the rattling is coming from there.

Car Play disconnected twice so far (in 3000 miles). Both times when I had Google Map navigation running, so I'm suspecting it's an App problem.
19 EX - Manufactured 10/2018.

The only thing I've noticed so far is what @tyler65 described in this post re: random vibrations, though my issue occurs when engine is cold (vs random) and I would describe it as "engine sputtering."

My tablet screen crashed and rebooted by itself while I was using Google Maps navigation earlier today. Happened on the road where I got the false brake alert last week but this time I was going the opposite direction.

Yes, I have had the stuttering engine on cold start twice. Doesn't last long and not something you can reproduce for the dealer to fix.

Would you mind sharing your model level and date of manufacture @Verdier? You'll find the date (MM/YY) in the upper right corner of one of the sticker labels on the driver side door sill.

Wondering if both our cars might both have "post-flooding" parts from the Honda Celaya/Mexico plant in common. Insights built September 2018 and later have this risk.

My car always start in EV mode since I never have the heater on when I start my car. I only turn it on after driving a short distance when the car turns on the gas generator after using up EV mode. I did experience a few times at a stop where I felt some minor stronger than normal vibrations from the car. I considered it as normal cause it didn't last really long and it doesn't happen all the time when the gas generator is on.

I've experienced this type of stutter/vibration over time on older Hondas, but NEVER when new. I respectfully disagree that this is normal for a new engine, especially if not everyone is experiencing. I plan to closely monitor and stay proactive on this, especially given the potential relation to post-flooding engine part quality.

^Tyler's post was made 7/29/18 so I assume his Insight must of been manufactured before the flood. My previous Honda Civic did make strong vibrations when I had the AC on max setting in the summer. I will keep an eye on my Insight for this but it hasn't been such an issue where I feel like it is out of the ordinary(maybe the stronger vibrations I felt aren't as bad as what others reported). I have only seen it happen rarely when I have the heater on at stops where it couldn't stay in EV mode due to low battery. I assume the slightly stronger vibration might just be the gas generator trying to keep up with the heater and generating more electricity under heavy load situations.
LX mfg 08/18. Do not know if after flood.

Yours is likely before flood using existing inventory based on article (Error - Erreur "Insight production at the Honda auto plant in Indiana will be suspended for the month of August. Based on existing parts inventory, the Indiana plant was able to produce Insight through the end of July, and will resume production in the beginning of September."
Thanks for the info Insightfully
Sorry for taking so long to respond, I kept forgetting to look. 8/18 Indiana touring model.
My wife bought a new gen 1 Insight in 2006. Drove it mostly on two lane highway at around 60mph. She sold it at 106,000 miles because signs of the battery "fading" occurred. Lifetime mpg was 54.5! The new owner replaced the battery at 108,000 at a cost of $4.5 - $5,000.

In 2010 I bought a gen 2 Insight (# 77 off the assembly line BTW). I sold it to my daughter, who sold it recently at 120,000 miles with no signs of battery problems.

Both cars used old tech. nickel hydride batteries. The gen 3 uses Li ion, which may be better tech., I notice the gen3 battery charges up faster. FYI
I'm interested in how you found out what # Insight you got... Is this possible with the gen 3 Insight?:surprise:

:smile: My daughter sold it at a Honda dealer, who picked it up from the VIN number.
