Here's a photo. It's uploading on its side, and I don't know how to fix that. But I thought it worthwhile to share anyway.
Interesting attachment point. Is there any padding below the clip to prevent scratches on the surface? Has the clip stayed in place well over bumps/stops? What device holder did you select? It looks like it was also from ProClip... is that required to be compatible with the mount?

It's very secure and doesn't rattle. The mount slots into the creases in the center console. I'll have to grab another photo of the mount so you can see. No screws, nothing to scruff the surfaces. You also have to buy the holder from ProClips, but they have several. The one you see is specific to my Moto X3 Play without a case. It slots right in perfectly. The poster above found a magnetic one that should work with any phone with a case. The holders for the more common phones should have different slot sizes available if you have your phone in a case.

I use my phone landscape mostly and use the bluetooth. I prefer the magnetic attachment since I have them all over my house to put my phone in and can switch orientation if I need. This setup keeps the phone out of the sun, is easy to access and doesn't block the tray. I have a pop socket on the back that I put the little metal circle that came with the kit from amazon. It blocks the park button but I never use it since when you push power, it shifts to park automatically and I can still easily push Reverse.

I know we’re all looking for the perfect spot to put our phone. I’ve tried mounting to ac vents then dash and back to ac vents.

The ac vents were pretty good because the air would cool my phone (but if it was in heat, then it would heat it up fast). Also, another problem is it would obstruct air from coming out left vent. The dash mount was OK but it kinda obstructed my view and on hot days, the sun would heat my phone quick. I think even in winter when we get a lot of sunshine here in SoCal, mounting it on dash would still heat up phone quicker.

So I got one of those 3M picture frame adhesives and stuck just the holder onto farthest left side of the dash kit that I currently have.

It’s pretty good because it lowers position of the phone so it’s out of sunlight more often and as you can see where it is, it gets a little bit of air from vent.

I think I may have found the best spot for my
phone now.

I don't know why you'd need to have the phone in view when you have CarPlay. I just leave mine in the tray by the shifter. I use a 1-foot Lightning cable for attachment.

Also, kudos to you for being the guinea pig for head unit replacement/upgrade. It looks great!

Thx!

I wanted the phone in sight (no pun intended) since I do Uber/Lyft and like to have the map up.i have the map on mute and just follow the map instructions on screen since I get annoyed being told to turn here and there when listening to music.

My headunit has wireless/wired Miracast but the wireless only works with Android and the wired version runs off of an HDMI cable (which unfortunately doesn’t charge my phone).

I designed a custom phone mount using a 3D-Printer. The mount sits in the phone tray and is tilted 20 degrees towards the driver and about 10 degrees from vertical.

The stand is modular so I can add holders for other phones:

Thoughts, suggestions?
I’ve gone through 6 different phone mounts in every which position lol. I’ve been looking for something like this for months to no avail^

Could you possibly relink or DM me the specs to this?

Honestly tempted to buy a 3D printer to print that or build something custom for myself.

Or does anyone know of any purchaseable similar stands that would fit the phone tray perfectly?

I’m planning to just use the tray by the shifter for my iPhone 12. But what length of cable works well to plug it in and not get in the way? Can someone post a picture of their phone laying there while plugged in? And mention what length cable they have?

I can't take a photo of it plugged in because my camera is my phone, but I found that a 12" cable is perfect for that spot.

Ditto what @sjmuller said. I'm using a 12" lightening cable with my iPhone SE (2020), and it's the perfect length.

A version of this that could hold an Apple Magsafe charger would be awesome!

bought a cheap 10 dollar cell phone mount from amazon. Took off the rubber pad to give it a smoother surface to adhere to.

does the job, plug in the phone from underneath, I can turn the phone sideways if my kids want to see the screen from the back seat, and fits my 13 pro max.
